THE 2021 GEDC INDUSTRY FORUM, ONLINE and IN DRESDEN, GERMANY
Agile Engineering Education: Developing the Next Generation of Engineering Innovators, Experts and Leaders for Our Ever-Evolving World
Organised by The Global Engineering Deans Council and Petrus in partnership with the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy and TU Dresden’s Faculty of Transportation and Traffic Sciences, Institute of Traffic Telematics
Over 90 participants from 27 countries across 6 continents gathered both online and in Dresden, Germany to reflect together on lessons learned both collectively and individually over the challenging past 18 months. We explored how universities, companies and our stakeholders can work better together to prepare for and pre-empt the global challenges that lie ahead focusing on 8 key themes centred around ‘Agile engineering education: Developing the next generation of engineering innovators, experts and leaders for our ever-evolving world’

Dynamic Design Groups
In unique and engaging design groups we brought together stakeholders from academia and industry to address the most prominent challenges we face in engineering education right now. Each participant shared their input on each theme in a dynamic brainstorm session and the outputs were captured in the sketches below.
01 - Embedding Sustainability in Engineering Education
02 - Virtual Collaboration for Impact and Engagement
03 - Agile Innovation Systems and Ecosystems
04 - Learning from Each Other
05 - Learning How to Learn Continuously
06 - Intra & Entrepreneurship at Scale
07 - The Engineer of the Future
08 - Agile Engineering Education

Participants were then challenged to design a response relative to their chosen theme, leveraging the experience and knowledge of the whole design group. The resulting output was extraordinary in the dynamism of the format and the scope of the ideas presented. Watch the presentations from each group below.
